Also amazing - my Super Secret Bridesmaid Knitting project is DONE!!!!!! And it's faaaaaaabulous! I can't wait to give them away. I finished them today, and they came out just as I had hoped!

I hope the ladies like them. Along with some other goodies....mwahahahaha.

That's all I can say here, since I know at least one of them reads this thing.

Oh Blogger...

How sadly neglected this blog has been. It hasn't seen a post since January! And I have indeed been knitting. Though for a while there, it was touch and go. Wedding planning, work stuff, and life have gotten in the way.

First - I've got a secret project that I can't post photos of, but was a super-fun quick knit, that is almost 100% complete! Photos as soon as it's safe. I promise.

In other knitting news - I have started a lace project! I've been wanting to knit the Swallowtail Shawl for a while, and finally got down to business. I've ripped back, oh, ten or so times already, but that was yesterday. Today is the DAY! I haven't knit lace in laceweight prior to this, sock yarn, worsted, yup...but no *real laceweight. I'm using this silver/grey yarn I got at my first Rhinebeck from Slivermoon Farms. It's held up pretty well considering the ripbacks. I did have to snip it once.

I was inspired to update my blog thanks to Knitty Digital so here it is. No photos, and not much news that I can report on, but there is knitting in my life!

I'm also catching up on Stash and Burn. I surely do enjoy those ladies. I'd love to find another podcast that is as enjoyable and informative as theirs is!

Knitting around...

So I'm knitting, and ripping and knitting. I've still got Greg's Cobblestone on the needles- it just does NOT want to be knit. I also cast on for the Leyburn socks, after Heather taught me an awesome toe for toe up socks! (THANKS!) I started a couple of different projects, other socks, handwarmers and frogged them for various reasons.

I have been eyeing some Dream in Color Smooshy to buy with my Christmas money..we'll see though. I am trying so hard to knit from my stash and so far so good!

My other "knitting" goal, more knitting related let's say, is to organize my stash/books/needles. I hate this plastic storage unit I have with some yarn and all my needles in it. It's functional, but boring and ugly. I am trying to figure out what else to do with the stuff, but I am not sure right now.

I really want to organize my needles and take stock of what I actually have/don't have, so I don't buy more than what I need. My circulars drive me batty because they get all tangled and unorganized in the drawer! My plan is to take them and put them into my knitting pattern binder, in the plastic sleeves, so as to keep them organized!

I am listening to the current Stash and Burn; I have to say, I really love those girls. Listening to them is so fun, and I think it would be super fun to hang out with them! Maybe one of these days they'll come to Rhinebeck!

...I think I am going to go organize my needles right now! And knit a bit on the Leyburn socks, which are so fun and adorable! I cannot wait to wear them!

Happy New Year!

It's been two months since I last posted and so much has happened! First, it's 2009! And I've finished a few projects.

I knit Greg a Christmas stocking very quickly, and neglected to take a picture of it before I put it away. I knit it out of Lamb's Pride Bulky in red and white. The "sock" part was red, while the heel and toe were white. It was a fun, quick knit!

I FINALLY put buttons on my CPH! Again...no photo. I found buttons that matched perfectly in my grandmother's button box. They were the right size, and there were enough of them for the sweater. I'm happy with the way it looks - though I find when wearing it that it tends to ride up. Next time I'd knit it a bit longer.

Projects I DO have pictures of - I finally finished my Monkey socks! They took me a long time, I finished the first one and took forever to start the second. But I knit the second one in about a week. I had lots of knitting time on Christmas Day at Greg's parents house, on the plane to and from NC, and all day yesterday on New Year's Eve.

The toes are a bit off, but it doesn't bother me. I'm too lazy to rip back and re-knit the toe on the left sock. Overall, I like the way they look and fit!

I also knit Greg a scarf - I used the Danica pattern (he picked it out) and knit it in black and grey. I haven't been able to convince him to pose for a picture, but here's a snapshot of the pattern itself.

I'd really like to knit the sweaters I bought yarn for at Rhinebeck in 2009, and learn how to knit toe-up socks. I've been making an effort to try and be a monogamous knitter and so far so good. It's easier for me to focus if I have one project going at a time. Though I do like having a scarf or hat on the needles as a distraction if I feel like knitting on something else.

Happy New Year!

Knit knit knit...

Seems to be what I am doing these days. I have been really progressing on the Cobblestone pullover for Greg because I have been trying to take it everywhere with me.

The color is not quite accurate, but it's coming along. And it does indeed fit - it's come off the needles 2 times just to be sure!

There's a nice shot of the stitches....I'm knitting it with Rowan Felted Tweed left over from his Weasley sweater. Do not ask me how I had enough yarn left for another sweater, when I ordered exactly the amount I needed for the first sweater. But I have like, 10 balls left, and I am putting it to use!

I have not knit with any of my Rhinebeck yarn. I am challenging myself to be a monogamus knitter. Unless I decide to knit a few Christmas things, which need to be started SOON if at all.

I am off from work today, and enjoying the day! Time to go knit!

Rhinebeck 2008

Here is it, kids. Kitties and all. Enough for two sweaters and two pairs of socks! The kitties are just for show..no knitting with them.

It was a lovely weekend, with some fabulous company.

Friday we all met up for dinner and drinks and then I came home and fell sound asleep. Saturday meant up bright and early to get there by 9 - we hit The Fold first and I had no intentions of buying any Socks that Rock but I stood on line with the ladies and the mill ends were accessible, so I bought 2 skeins!

I didn't buy anything else Saturday except for food - artichokes, pot pie and hot cider! Yummmmm. Instead I did a lot of observing and contemplating.

A few of us went back on Sunday and it was much more leisurely. I think as often as I can I will do the 2 day trip. I bought some awesome turqoise yarn that will be purposed for the Hourglass Sweater from Last Minute Knitted Gifts and a pinkish yarn for the Big Cables and Baby Ones Too!

More yummy food - pierogies and more cider. We sat in the sun and chatted, and visited the alpaca and llamas!

It was a great weekend and I can't wait for next year!

Soggy Sunday

It's a rainy, yucky day and it was a perfect morning for me to finish seaming up my Central Park Hoodie!! Leia helped me last night while I was working on it....I finished this morning while she was still closed in the bathroom (she's still recovering from her spaying).

The shot of the back is pretty clear as far as showing the cables and such. But the front photo is more accurate of the color (I think?).

It took me about a year to knit this! I kept putting it down for other projects, and I didn't work on it much this summer at all. But I used the yarn I bought for it and now there's room in my yarn bin for Rhinebeck! I haven't decided what buttons to put on the CPH - I am going to look at Rhinebeck, though I suspect I will probably wear this sweater unbuttoned most of the time. I'd definitely knit another one, but maybe try knitting it in one piece in the future...

Still have my Monkey socks on the needles, almost done with sock #1, and ready to move to sock #2. I'm not sure I love the sock/yarn combo, but I am too far along now, so I will knit and see how I feel. I can always gift them!

Hey Teach has totally stalled after my frustration with the armhole shaping...I'll pick it back up eventually.....
